The Cabernet Poodle Picture of the Month!

January, 2012

It's always nice when Cabernet families connect and get together.
Here are Ted and Patrick having a brothers' play date.

"Patrick and Ted last saw each other at 10 weeks of age. At 19 months, they met at the door without so much as a woof and acted like old friends with face-to-face sniffs and tails wagging."

Cabernet is excited to announce our 2012 breeding!

After a year and a half of planning, it now looks like we will have puppies in the near future! We are getting ready to breed Rizzo, CH. Cabernet Caught You Looking! Since three from that litter finished their championships, we think we should get some very beautiful youngsters. Having lived with all three (Rizzo, Jude and Kai), we'd also be very happy if the puppies also inherited those temperaments.

Early inquiries for these puppies are encouraged.

Sky Winner At World Dog Show!

In July, at the 2011 World Dog Show in Paris, France, our Wire Fox Terrier, Ch AfterAll Painting the Sky, walked into the ring and was awarded Best of Breed, Terrier Group 1 and third Best In Show with just the Pug and the Akita from Italy ahead of her. There were more than 28,000 dogs entered that came from all over the world, including approximately 130 Wires.  Sky showed beautifully and Diane and I were thrilled that we were there to watch it all happen.

New Puppy Champion!

New Champion, Cabernet Skyland Tell It Like It Is, finished with four majors, two of which were five point majors! One of Rahm's five point majors was awarded at the Washington Poodle Club specialty under respected poodle breeder/judge, Jordan Chamberlain. In addition, Rahm concluded his puppy show career by being named Best Puppy In Show at the Orlando Poodle Specialty. We consider this a great honor as there was stiff competition from the toy and miniature variety representatives.

Rahm At Poodle Club of America National Specialty Show

Our Poodle Club of America Nationals held every month of April in Salisbury, Maryland is a yearly reunion. It's always fun to get together with not only friends from throughout the United States but with our foreign friends as well, who make their yearly pilgrimage to the the MOST WONDERFUL POODLE SHOW on earth.
We are proud to share with you that our 9 month old baby boy, Rahm, (Cabernet Skyland Tell It Like It Is)
went second in his class. It was a very competitive group of puppies as many were on the cusp of turning a year old and he had just turned 9 months old.

To top off our experience at the Nationals, Best of Breed was awarded to multiple Best In Show, Ch. Jaset's Satisfaction known as London. We are the proud breeders of London's mother, Ch. Cabernet Lets Go To Jaset.

NEW CHAMPION!

Yea! Our baby Seela did it. She now wants to be referred to as PUPPY CHAMPION Seela. She finished on January 20th after being awarded her third major and going Best of Winners, all before her one year old birthday.

We were very pleased to hear about the number of compliments Chris and Rachel were given on the day, by very respected dog fancy people such as Peter Green and Wendell Sammet.

All Our Summer Puppies Are With Their New Families!

As much as we enjoyed watching these babies play, grow and develop into their own special little "beings," their time with us has come to an end. It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that we have watched them leave with their new families. We'll miss seeing them grow up here at Cabernet but all our families do a great job of keeping in touch and we know we'll get photos and updates throughout these puppies' lives.  We'd like to share some final pictures of the pups and their families in the new PhotoShows on the Puppy Page.

Our next litter will be early fall of 2011
